checking in on Brother Bull
I just returned from a work trip abroad and making the rounds. Looks like everything is in good shape, and plenty of feed. We don’t typically have this much green in September, but it’s been a great year for rainfall. All you can eat buffet for the bulls, who are now out from the cows, having done their work for the year. We try to keep grazing density pretty high, but that’s hard with bulls, they fight, and go through fences much more readily than cows. The upshot for them is more selective grazing. They have their choice of grasses and shrubs to graze and browse, while the cows typically have to competitively eat what they can before someone else grabs it. I believe that makes the bull meat more nutrient dense, at some point we’ll get that validated with lab tests.
